Disability generates major costs for both hospitals and the State, and rehabilitation is a complex clinical problem.
The REHABILITA project seeks to develop rehabilitation services platforms that will enable the generation of knowledge regarding the effectiveness of the procedures and make it possible to develop an evidence-based rehabilitation practice. The project should produce an assessment of rehabilitation processes and new rehabilitation devices, technology and contents.
The REHABILITA strategy consists in focusing research on the following three fields, from which it will be possible to tackle the main pathologies with the greatest worldwide impact:
• Physical rehabilitation: traffic accidents, cerebral-vascular disease, catastrophes and muscular-skeletal disease.
• Cognitive rehabilitation: depression, traffic accidents, cerebral-vascular disease, catastrophes and dementias.
• Cardio-respiratory rehabilitation: myocardial infarct, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lower respiratory infections, tuberculosis.
