Photovoltaic and flexible batteries

CETEMMSA has a research line for developing flexible energy-producing devices. This research focuses on two areas: converting luminous energy into electric energy (photovoltaic cells) and converting chemical energy into electric energy (electrochemical batteries). In both cases, the development of devices is based on depositing a multi-layered structure on a flexible substrate (plastic, textile, paper, etc.) using printing techniques. In the case of batteries, these layers are their electrode and electrolyte, while the photovoltaic cells are made up of electrodes and an organic-type active substance capable of capturing light and converting it into an electric current.
